this is the swedish cover + title for “the fault in our stars”. title translates to “sooner or later i’ll explode”.
and the cover… i’m just at loss for words.
you have this epic, fantastic, completely brillant novel that leaves no one unaffected, that have people of all ages crying like babies, and you just disrespect that by giving it a cover and a title like this?
this is a cover designed to appeal to fourteen year old girls. it’s a title written to appeal to fourteen year old girls. and there’s nothing wrong with that, but this book is so much more than that.
the only thing i can do is HOPE that people of all ages and genders will pick up this book and read it and fall in love with it, because judging by this, the publisher sure as hell isn’t making an effort to make that happen.
i whined about the english cover, too, i know, but while i at some level could see the appeal of that cover (i just didn’t think it was as original and ~unique~ as everyone made it out to be) - i’m just extremely disappointed in this one. not that i’d really hoped for more (bonnier carlsen is not my favourite publisher), but… seriously. this cover, this title, this is bonnier carlsen not giving a shit about this book and its swedish potential.
i bet the translation will suck, too. i’m still gonna force my sister and mother to read it, though.
I agree with you whole-heartedly. Seriously; what were they thinking with this cover?!
